How To Change Google Wi-Fi Router Password

Reading Time: 3 minutes

You do not need to change the password of the Google WiFi configuration router too often, but sometimes, you may notice an unusual login on the Internet from a location other than your home. If this is the case or if you have forgotten your password, change the Google Wi-Fi router password as soon as possible.

In spite of everything, you can easily change the password by entering the router settings after logging in. You can enter any password of your choice.

Log in to the router as an administrator.

1.   Go to the “Wi-Fi” password setting.

2.   Enter a new password.

3.   Save Changes.

4.   Log in to the router as an administrator

To log in to the router administrator page, you need an IP address, username, and password.

Check what type of router you are using in the model list and write down the IP address, password and username.

If you are using the Google WiFi login router, check the list of routers and get a username and password from there. If you say, you can leave the username field as it is, then it is not necessary to add anything in the field and enter the IP address directly in the address bar. Log in with a password that is usually “Admin”.

If you find that your model is not listed, you can visit the router manufacturer’s website and download the manual from there. All details, such as the IP address, subnet mask address and a default username and password, are provided in the manual. If the IP address mentioned in the guided manual does not work, you can try changing the last digit.

Find the password settings

You can easily find the password setting in Google WiFi Help once you sign in. Go to “Network” and then to the “Wireless” section. From here, you can verify the wireless information related to the router. The terminology may vary from one router to another.

After successfully logging in to the page, you will find an option such as “SSID or encryption.” Click on it and see the “Password” section. On some routers, you will find it as “shared key”, passphrase or WPA-PSK.

For Google Wi-Fi routers, you will find the password settings in the “Wireless” tab. Go to “Wireless Security” and then to “WPA Shared Key”.

Set new password

Enter the new password of your choice in the given field. Make sure that the password you are entering must meet the conditions. It must have a minimum of 8 characters and must contain a special character so that no one can guess it.

You can store your password in “Free Password Manager” if it is not easy to remember.

Save your Wi-Fi password changes

Last but not least, save the password after making the necessary changes. You will find the “Save” or “Save changes” button at the bottom of the page. Click on it after entering the new password.

How To Execute Security Test On Google Wi-Fi Router Connection

Reading Time: 3 minutes

A Google Wi-Fi configuration router is required for home Internet connection to provide transmission and reception of signals to which devices such as smartphones or laptops are connected. • Check if you are connecting to the Internet or if the website appears for what you have searched for or not. If you find “No Internet connection”, it means that there is no Internet available on the device.

This is how you can perform security verification on a Windows PC. You can try the same test on your Mac Book through the steps mentioned below.

  • Open the “Antenna” icon in the upper right corner of the home screen. Click on “Home Network” in the list of networks that appears in the window. A drop-down menu will appear asking you to enter a password.
  • Leave the password field as it is and you do not need to enter anything in this field. Click “Connect” directly and go to the lower right corner of the screen. You will find the network icon that shows Internet connectivity.
  • Check if the password popup appears again or not. If it disappears, it means that it is connected to the network.
  • Now, open the “Antenna” icon again and check the list of Google WiFi Login networks. Click on the “Start” network and enter the password in the field.
  • Click on “Connect” in the lower corner of the screen. Check if pop-ups appear again or not. If it disappears, it means that it is connected to the network.
  • Open a web browser by clicking on the “Safari” icon in the application folder. Enter any web address of your choice in the address field and press ‘Enter’. If the page loads, it means that it is connected or if you find the message “Internet not available” on the screen, it means that the test was successful.

How to Set Up the Google WiFi System

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Wi-Fi mesh networks are all the rage lately, and even Google has had fun. Here we show how to configure Google WiFi to get rid of dead spots in every corner of the user’s house or apartment.

If user is not familiar with what Wi-Fi mesh is and how it works, we have an explainer that can update it. But essentially, mesh Wi-Fi systems are a set of wireless routers that are placed around user’s home. From there, everyone connects to each other and bombs their home with the best possible Wi-Fi signal.

Setup and Configure Google Wifi Router System

Google WiFi is just one of the many Wi-Fi mesh systems on the market, similar to Eero or Luma. Here is how to configure it.

Start by unpacking the Google WiFi units and take one to use as the main unit that will connect to users modem (or router, if user wants to keep the advanced features of user’s old router). The user will need the power cable, as well as the included Ethernet cable.

Then, connect the first Google WiFi unit to a power outlet and connect the other end to the USB-C port on the bottom of the unit. Then take the ethernet cable and connect one end to the ethernet port of users modem and the other end to the green ethernet port on the Google WiFi unit. If user has a modem/router combo, simply plug the ethernet cable into any of the numbered ethernet ports on the combined unit.

The Google WiFi unit will turn on automatically. While doing so, continue and download the Google WiFi application on users iPhone or Android device.

  1. Once the application is installed, open it and touch “Login” in the lower right corner of the screen.
  2. If user has multiple Google accounts connected to users device, select the one user want to use with Google WiFi. Otherwise, tap “Add account” to sign in to user’s Google account.
  3. Then tap “Start” in the lower right corner.
  4. The application will automatically start searching for the Google WiFi unit that user connected. Once the user finds it, it will ask the user to scan the QR code on the bottom of the unit. Users can use the camera on the user’s phone by touching “Scan code” or enter the code manually by selecting “Write code”.
  5. Next, the user will select from the list where users Google WiFi unit is located and then press “Next”.
  6. Then, user will enter a new Wi-Fi network name, since Google WiFi creates a completely new Wi-Fi network. Press “Next” when user is done.
  7. On the next screen, enter a password that users will enter to access the network. Touch “Create network” when finished.
  8. The application will take a few minutes to create the user’s Wi-Fi network.
  9. All users have to do now is access the user’s phone settings and switch to user’s new Wi-Fi network created by Google WiFi.
  10. After that, the user can go back to the application and start the process of setting up more Google WiFi units in user’s home. Start by selecting how many more units’ user wants to configure and tap “Next” at the bottom.
  11. Go ahead and connect the next Google WiFi unit and press “Next” on the application until user reaches the room selection screen. As before, select the room in which users second unit is located and press “Next”.
  12. Once connected, user will now test the connection to see if the distance between these two units is sufficient. Press “Try Now” in the lower right corner.
  13. Take a minute to run the test, and when finished, tap “Next.” If user say there was a problem, user should move users second unit a little closer to the main unit to get a better connection.
  14. User will repeat this same process to set up users third Google WiFi unit, including where user are and run the Wi-Fi test.
  15. After that, an overview of users Wi-Fi network will be displayed on the screen. Make sure everything looks good and then tap “Next.”
  16. Next, users Google Wifi units may need to apply an update, which could take a few minutes, so let it do its thing and let user know when it’s finished.
  17. Once the update is complete, tap “Explore” to access the main application screen.
  18. User will have three tabs to choose from. The first tab is the type of main screen where several cards appear when something new happens to user’s network.
  19. The central tab shows an overview of users Wi-Fi network, such as how many mesh units user are using and how many devices are connected to users network. User can touch any of the circles to get even more details.
  20. The last tab is where all the settings, such as guest Wi-Fi, family Wi-Fi settings and network testing are located.

That’s all about it! There are quite a few steps, but they are easy to follow and it really only takes 5-10 minutes to configure users Google WiFi network and configure it.
